Audi plans to launch a sports car to replace the R8, priced from $ 223,000

Bram Schot, chairman of Audi, said the company is planning to develop a high-tech sports car to replace the future R8 legend.

Car Magazine said Audi spoke with Rimac with the hope of creating a high-performance model to replace the R8 named Audi RS e-Tron. There is little information about this new model, it is expected to be released in 2023 or 2024.

Audi automaker revealed that this model will be produced at the Bollinger Hofe factory, the transmission system on the RS e-Tron will be handled by Rimac.

The car will be equipped with 4 electric motors combined with 4WD AWD. The capacity of this model is estimated at 937 horsepower, allowing the car to accelerate 0-100 km / h in just 2.5 seconds.

Many rumors suggest that the RS e-Tron will use a 95 kWh battery pack with a wireless charging system, making it easy to move about 480 km before stopping charging. In addition, the car is also equipped with fast charging technology.

This 2-seater model will use chassis with monolithic aluminum design and active aerodynamic system.

The price of this new model is quite impressive, the lowest version is priced from only 223,670 USD.

Audi does not think that the RS-eTron is an important project because of the failure of the R8 e-Tron in the past.

However, this plan has not yet been formally approved, Schot said that Audi needs to focus resources on more important projects and eliminate unnecessary projects. The RS e-Tron was not included in important projects because of the previous failure of the R8 e-Tron electric car, which only sold more than 100 units before being killed.
